Pax Intrantibus - ''Peace to those who enter.''
''Charity - Humility - Penance'' the three evangelical virtues are the foundation of the Penitent Brothers. The call to repent and conversion is central our spirituality as we share fully in the sacrifice of the cross.
His Holiness Benedict XVI stated that, ''the Cross is truly the place where God's compassion for the world is perfectly manifested.'' This manifestation was first fulfilled by the prophecy of Simeon, and foretold to his mother, “(and you yourself a sword shall pierce) to that thoughts of many hearts shall be revealed. (Lk 2:35).” Mary's heart was pierced through (cf: Lk 2-35) by the suffering endured by her son, the One born of her flesh. Her suffering continues in her capacity as Mother of Mankind. As the mother of sinners, she sees our suffering and is compassionate to all how come to her.
The Penitent Brothers have a special devotion to Our Lady of Sorrows as we unite with the sufferings of Christ through union with the special suffering that Our Lady endured because she was the Mother of God. By uniting ourselves with both the Passion of Christ and his holy mother, we enter into Jesus' heart and honor him greatly; he is more honored because we have so honored his mother.
The union with Christ that each brother strives for and the evangelical virtues which he professes paves the way to be witnesses for Christ.
Again welcome and we pray you God’s peace.
